What is VetWish?
What military branch travels the most and what can we do to help our veterans? VetWish is a way to make a dream or wish come true for a veteran, whether it’s for you, a friend, or a family member. Just nominate the veteran, telling us their wish or dream, and we will do our best to make it happen for them.
It all came about when BaseConnect’s founder Major Tony Weedn was volunteering at an assisted living facility. The facility connected Tony with a 96 year old veteran named Rex who served in the Navy during WWII. Rex has an amazing story about how he was on a naval ship that was sunk during the war and Rex was stranded in the water for two days before being rescued.
After hours of talking Tony asked Rex, “What’s one thing you regret in life?” Without missing a beat Rex replied, “I wish I would have learned to play the violin. I love violin music and always wanted to play. I regret I never learned that.”
What Rex did not know is that Tony has a few friends who play and teach the violin. One is even in the local orchestra. So Tony decided to coordinate a private violin concert for Rex and also give him his first lesson. This is how VetWish was born.
Why can’t we use our current BaseConnect platform and make any veteran’s dream come true?”
